菊と桐。 白と緑でそれぞれの紋が配された、陶製の茶筒です。 底面には長方形の大小の印があります。 「若山」「舟木合名會社」 とあり、出雲の布志名焼だと分かります。 菊と桐の組み合わせは日本では古来から用いられている伝統的な文様で、高貴な身分の人々にのみ許されたのです。 豊臣秀吉ゆかりの高台寺に伝わる蒔絵の文様から高台寺蒔絵として知られる作品群も、菊と桐の意匠が特徴となっていて、この頃には武士にも用いられていたことが分かりますね。 秀吉はこの菊と桐の文様の仕様を制限したと聞いています。 菊桐模様のこの茶筒も、もしかすると庶民用ではなく、上流階級に用いられてきたのかもしれないと想像しているところです。 江戸時代中期に始まった布志名焼は、明治に入ると若山陶器会社（明治10～17年）をはじめ、多くの会社が設立されました。 舟木合名会社は大正4年に丸三陶器会社に改められたとのことですので、本品はそれ以前の製品となります。資料的にも興味深い品でしょう。 状態：蓋と身に小ホツ。 胴径　7.5cm 高さ　10.7cm 重さ　約378g 陶器 日本・布志名・舟木合名会社 明治時代〜大正時代初期　19～20世紀 A charming glazed stoneware tea caddy with design of a white chrysanthemum and green paulownias in overglaze enamel.
