大小の白いハート形が目を引きます。
これは団扇（うちわ）を表しており、日本では江戸時代前期頃から流行したようで、うつわにもときどき登場する文様なのです。
団扇に描かれているのは梅の図。
枝ぶりのよい梅の木とともに、その根本には愛らしい若い梅の木も描かれており、ほほえましいものです。

ブルーの背景の地紋は「紗綾形（さやがた）」と呼ばれる吉祥の幾何学模様となっています。この

ブルーの背景に大小の団扇を配した類品が知られており、この構図がひとつの雛形となっていたことがうかがい知れるのです。
