いけばなの図。

立てられた花は、杜若（または菖蒲）でしょう。
その脇には花鋏が置かれています。
生けられた花とともに、（花を生ける）行為そのものも主題となっているようです。
華道でも「生花」は、江戸時代後期に庶民に普及したと云われています。
その人気ぶりがこのうつわにも反映されているようにも思われるのですが、いかがでしょうか。

取り囲む太いブルーの帯には、墨弾きの技法によって白抜きの格子文が表され、モダンな雰囲気が漂っています。

裏面は、花鳥の図。
並んで咲く花は、水辺の杜若のようにも見えますが・・・
よく見ると、桐の花のようにも。となれば、鳥は鳳凰でしょうか？

状態：見込にフリモノ。口縁にピンホール。高台に焼成時の窯疵。

A charming blue and white porcelain small dish with ikebana design. An arranged iris and scissors are painted.
On the backside, flowers and birds are painted. They seem to be irises, or paulownias (with phoenixes).
