萩唐草におおわれた染付のうつわです。
雲をかたどった大きな窓絵には水辺の風景が描かれています。大きな葦も印象的です。

17世紀の古伊万里のうつわに見られる精緻な花唐草は、18世紀に入り、時代とともにパターン化や省略化が進みます。18世紀半ば頃になると、花唐草から牡丹風の花が省かれるようになり、葉のみの唐草が一般化していくのです。「花唐草」に対して「萩唐草」と区別して呼ばれています。

裏面には焼成時に生じた窯疵。「の」「６」「９」など、見る向きによってさまざまな文字にも読め、ひとつの景色としてお楽しみいただければを思います。
裏面の高台周りに貫入が見られます。（焼成時に釉薬の表面に生じたもので、器胎を貫通するものではなく、水漏れの心配はありません。）
